Nancy Lee Handshy, age 83 of Webb City, MO passed away August 7, 2014 at the St. Luke’s Nursing Center.
She was born on November 29, 1930 in Chetopa, KS the daughter of Matt and Edna Balay Warwick. Nancy married Gary Card in 1952 to this union two children were born Richard W. Card and Cathy J. Waggoner. She later married Harold L. Handshy on August 21, 1976 he preceded her in death on July 28, 2008. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her grandchildren, also visiting with neighbors and friends.
Nancy was also preceded in death by her parents, a son Richard W. Card in 2008, a brother Willard Warwick and a sister Thelma Belknap. Survivors include two sons: Patrick Handshy and Michael Handshy and wife Tiffany of Coppell, TX; four daughters: Cathy Waggoner and husband Darrell of Webb City, MO, Melody Kagel and husband Bill of Fremont, CA, Monica Durkin and husband Don of Eudora, Ks and Michelle Bryant and husband Kevin of Eudora, KS; a sister in-law Velma Corder of Phoenix, AZ, a life-long friend Peggy Martin of Columbus, KS, sixteen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and their families. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dixie Spencer for all the great care she gave to Nancy.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday August 11, 2014 at the Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory with Pastor Kyle Beverlin officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Webb City, Mo. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the Mortuary. The family suggests contributions to the Kinsley Durkin-Hutchcraft Medical Fund in Memory of her great grandmother Nancy in care of the Mortuary.
