Jacqueline “Jackie” Louise (White) Bass, 77, of Frontenac, went home to her Heavenly Father surrounded by her family and friends at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at the Via Christi Hospital.
She was born March 2, 1937 at Pittsburg, the daughter of Mahlon “Jack” Freemont and Nora Edith “Edie” (Taylor) White. She graduated with the Class of 1956 from Pittsburg High School. On February 23, 1954, she was united in marriage to Charles L. Bass, Jr. at Pittsburg. He preceded her in death on December 8, 1999. Mrs. Bass worked SEK Cap and Headstart, Elm Acres and the White Grill. Membership was held in the Trinity Baptist Church and she currently attended the Independent Bible Baptist Church.
She is survived by four daughters, Rebecca L. Bass of Frontenac, Charlotte L. Bass Smith of Frontenac, Marilyn F. White Rosenthal and husband, Rick of Pierce City, MO; and Amanda L. Bass Saling and husband, Casey of Frontenac; two sons, Charles Lee Bass II of Pittsburg and Steven L. Bass of Benton, AR; one brother, Jimmie Dewayne White and wife, Darlene of Cameron, NC, who was raised by Jackie and Charles Bass. She is also survived by grandchildren, Joey Stevens, Tony and Delilah Stevens, Ashley and Jeff Kruger of Joplin, MO, Tyler and Lyn Bass, Emily Bass of Arkansas, Andrew Bass and Leann Weaver of Radley, KS, Isaiah Smith of Frontenac, Jennifer, Katelee and William Saling of Frontenac, Amber and Ron Garcia, of Pittsburg; Great-grandchildren, Zoey, Kylee, Anthony and Addison Stevens of Joplin, MO, Holly and Pieper Kruger of Joplin, MO, and Zoey and Landan Garcia of Pittsburg. She is also survived by special friends, Geneva Trisler, Kay Lynne Webb and Steve and Karen Shepherd and Duane Hoy. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Sharon Oertle, niece, Stacy Hubbard and great-niece, Brenda Hubbard.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday (Aug. 11) at the Brenner Mortuary with Rev. Michael Hart and Rev. James Fryer co-officiating. Burial will follow in the Crocker Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m., Monday, at the Brenner Mortuary. Friends may also call at the funeral home from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday. The family will be at the home of her daughter, Amanda’s, 101 N. Cherokee, Frontenac, KS. The family suggests memorials to help pay medical expenses of Mrs. Bass’s two grandchildren, Katelee and William Saling.
