Ira A. Capps, Jr., 73, of Seneca, MO passed away at 9:39 p.m. Friday, August 8, 2014 at Freeman West Hospital.
Ira was born September 23, 1940 in Carthage. He was the son of Ira A. Capps, Sr. and Esther Mollohon Capps. Ira lived his entire life in the four state area. He graduated from Carthage High School with the class of 1958. Ira served in the Army National Guard for 6 years. He worked in vending services for Joe Smith Vending of Joplin for 20 years. Ira then worked for Doane Pet Food for 16 years, retiring in 2004.
Ira was united in marriage to Linda Widener on December 20, 1958 at the home of Jim and Helga Widener in Carthage. She survives. Other survivors include one son, Michael Capps of Holland, ID, two daughters; Cathy Kirby of Joplin and Julie Aldridge of Seneca, one brother; Bob Capps of Carthage and one sister Delores Painter of Carthage, 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Ira was preceded in death by one son, Douglas Capps formerly of Grove, OK in March 2013.
Memorial Services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 11, 2014 at the Ulmer Funeral Home Chapel. Online condolences may be sent at www.ulmerfh.com.
