Lynn D. Smith Wells, age 75 of Oswego, KS, formerly of Joplin, passed away at 6:53 a.m. on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at Desert Health & Rehabilitation Center in Oswego, following a lengthy illness.
Born March 30, 1939 in Picher, OK, she was the daughter of the late George Oscar Willis, Jr. and Lenora Cross Martin, and lived in Joplin most of her lifetime. She worked as a secretary at MSSU’s Counseling and Testing Department for 19 years. She was a Baptist.
Survivors include two daughters, Dannalee Eldridge Shere and husband Dale of Chetopa, KS, Heatherly Russell and husband Brian of Springfield, MO; a brother, Daniel Martin and wife Diana of Joplin; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Lynn was preceded in death by a husband, Charles Smith and a son, Charles Robert Smith.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary. No services are planned. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.
