Bob Drake

Robert Lee "Bob" Drake, age 82, Joplin, passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at Mercy of Joplin.

Bob was born October 23, 1938 in Joplin, son of the late Loren H. Drake and Tressa M. Roberts Drake. He graduated from Joplin High School in 1956, and enjoyed participating in all sports as a child. He was a member of the Joplin Babe Ruth Team that played in the World Series in Washington, D.C.

He was an active member of Emmanuel Baptist Church of Webb City.








He worked for over 42 years for Mid-West Materials as a pipe insulator before retiring. He enjoyed following his kids sports activities, and that carried over to his grandchildren. He was very proud of them, and loved sharing in their successes. He was also known for his meticulous care of his cars, which he enjoyed very much.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Drake, and a sister, Deanie Hymer.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Judith D. King Drake; sons, David Drake and wife Pam of Webb City, Danny Drake of Joplin; grandchildren, Brittany Claborn, Brayden Drake and wife Kandace, Patrick Drake and wife Rachelle, and Sonora Jones and husband Jordan; great-grandchildren, Drake Claborn, Bree Claborn, Blakely Drake, and Decker Drake; sister-in-law, Martha Drake of Kansas City, Missouri; and his little dog, Molly.

Funeral service will be Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church with Rev. Kyle Beverlin officiating. Interment will follow in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery.
