Dale Aikins

Dale A. Aikins, 72, of Carl Junction, Missouri, and formerly of Parsons, passed away at 9:22 a.m., Friday, December 4, 2020, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.

Dale Arthur Aikins, was born on May 4, 1948 in Winfield, Kansas to Robert Vernon Aikins and Genevieve Segrid (Jordan) Aikins. Dale grew up and attended schools in Oxford, Kansas, graduating from the Oxford High School in 1966. 

 Dale then attended the Pittsburg State University where he received a bachelor’s degree and later a master’s degree. He worked for the Farm Talk Newspaper in Parsons, Kansas for several years. He then began his work at the Labette Community College as the Director of Media Services.








In 2002 they moved to Mississippi where he worked for a laser mapping company for several years until retiring and moving to Carl Junction, Missouri to be near their family. Dale was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching sporting events of all kinds. Dale loved being with his kids and grandkids and watching their sporting events. He was a member of the Destiny Foursquare Church in Joplin.

Dale was united in marriage to Vickie J. Robison on June 19, 1971 at Pittsburg, Kansas. Dale and Vickie had celebrated 49 years of marriage in June of this year.

Survivors include his wife, Vickie, of the home; two sons, Robert Aikins and his wife, Janna of Carl Junction, Missouri and Jamie Aikins and his wife, Meena of Manhattan, Kansas; one daughter, Angela George of Webb City, Missouri; four grandchildren, Kendall McBrayer, Molly George, Gabriel George and Ronin Aikins; one brother, David Aikins and his wife, Marilyn of Springfield, Missouri; one sister, Helen Diklich and her husband, Richard of Liberty, Missouri. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Terry.

Funeral Services will be held at 7:00 PM, Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons with Florence Espeseth officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until service time Wednesday evening. Burial will follow at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Joplin, Missouri at 11:00 AM, Thursday, December 10, 2020. Memorial contributions are suggested to Brothers In Blue Reentry and these may be left at or mailed to the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, PO Box 374, Parsons, Kansas 67357.

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, social distancing and the use of masks will be required for those attending services. The funeral service will be live-streamed on the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home Facebook page.
