Gloria Turner

(From Knell Mortuary)

Gloria Dean Turner changed her address to heaven on Saturday, February 12, 2022, and met her Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ. Then she saw her beloved Gorden standing looking for her at the top of the stairs, just as he promised when he left her 6 years ago.

Gloria was born in Kansas City, MO on August 31, 1931 to Earl Franklin & Ruby ‘Forrester’ Franklin.

At an early age the Franklin’s relocated to Carthage, MO where Gloria lived for the rest of her life.

Gloria met her true love, Gorden Turner at Carthage high school, where she graduated in 1949. She & Gorden were married on October 7, 1949 at the First Baptist Church, Carthage, MO. It wasn’t long until the couple added a daughter, Cindy & a son, Larry to complete their family. Gloria loved being a Mom more than anything. She was a stay at home when her kids were in school. As they got older, Gloria went to work for Michel Animal Hospital as their office coordinator. She was fulfilled working there and found a new purpose in life working with animals. Later on she would love her six grandchildren & seventeen great-grandchildren more than one thought possible.

Gloria & Gorden were faithful members of First Baptist Church for many years where they made lifelong friendships.

Gloria is survived by her daughter Cindy Huntley (Doug), and her son Larry Turner (Beverly) both of Carthage. Also surviving are her six grandchildren, Matt Huntley (Sarah), Ryan Huntley (Maranda), Kristen Norbury (Paul) all of Carthage, Adam Turner (Jennifer) Loganville, GA, Andy Turner (Heather) Edwardsville, IL, and Kyle Wartick (Amy) Springfield, MO. Also, seventeen great grandchildren, Maquelle Huntley, Marcus Huntley, Mia Huntley, Katlyn Huntley, Dylan Huntley, Grady Huntley, Kailyn Schultz, Camille Norbury, Trey Norbury, AJ Turner, Jadin Turner, Whitley Turner, Ava Turner, Nora Turner, Graham Turner, Finn Wartick & Bek Wartick. Also surviving is her brother Ron Franklin (Cheryl) and her nephew Aaron Franklin & niece Leslie Franklin.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gorden Turner, her parents, Earl Franklin & Ruby Franklin Burt, twin infant brothers, Earl Gene & Burl Dean, and her closest cousin Stella Mae Aladeen.

We would like to give a special thank you to Gloria’s brother Ron, his wife Cheryl & their daughter Leslie for putting their lives on hold, to take care of Gloria for the past 5 ½ years. You have been a blessing to us all. We also thank the staff of Carthage Mercy for the wonderful care given to Gloria in her last days. You made her last days as good as we could have hoped.

Services will be held 11 am, Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at Bykota Church, Carthage. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery, Carthage. The family will receive friends before the service from 10-11 am. The family will gather at the home of Cindy & Doug Huntley, 2012 Amber Lane, Carthage. The family requests in lieu of flowers, to please make memorial donations to the Carthage Humane Society in care of the Knell Mortuary, Carthage, MO.
