(From Knell Mortuary)Syble McCarty, age 99, Joplin, Missouri, passed away Thursday February 24, 2022, at her home. She was born January 6, 1923, in Diamond, Missouri, the daughter of the late Ernest Morgan and Lola (Williams) Morgan. She lived most of her life in Carthage before moving to Joplin.
She worked at the Up-To Date Laundry for many years. She survived a heart attack, breast cancer, gallbladder surgery, a broken hip, and many ups and downs in her life, but fought until the very end.
She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She loved playing bingo until she got to where she couldn’t see the numbers on the large screen in the bingo hall anymore. She enjoyed music and her favorite song was Satin Sheets. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by a sister, Ann Mitchell, Carthage, Missouri; a sister in-law, Phyllis Morgan, Carthage, Missouri; four daughters, Diane Young, House Springs, Missouri, Jeannie Neel, Joplin, Missouri, Jackie McCarty, Joplin, Missouri, and Leona Hong, Byrnes Mills, Missouri; a son, Mickey McCarty (Trish), Carthage, Missouri; thirteen grandchildren, several great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family and many friends.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Mick McCarty; two brothers, Ted Morgan, and John Morgan; three sisters, Doris Pippin, Ruby Kenkennan, and Beth Lansdown; and several other family and friends.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday March 5, 2022, at the Knell Mortuary. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Friday March 4, 2022, at the Knell Mortuary. Private family inurnment will take place at the Oak Hill Cemetery. The family suggests contributions to the Alzheimer Association in care of the Knell Mortuary.
