Reta Castor

On February 11, 2022, Reta Fay Castor of Carthage, MO passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family. Reta was a loving mother, wife, grandma, aunt, and friend to many. 

She was born on March 5, 1944 in Carthage, MO to Hugh C and Gladys “Brandon” Osborne. She graduated from Carthage High School in 1961.

On June 1, 1962 Reta married Elvis Castor at Union Chapel Church in Carthage, and remained married until Elvis’ passing in 2016.








After 25 years of service, she retired from Beimdiek Insurance Agency. In 1984, she and Elvis founded E&R Pallet Company, now known as Global Pallet Solutions owned by son Danny, and remained active with the company until her passing. She also assisted her son Mark with his business, Jasco Tree Service.

Reta had a strong love for Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior whom she actively served along with Elvis through his pastoring at Union Fellowship Church for nearly 40 years. The past 4 years she attended Grace Pointe Assembly of God and continued her ministry through her involvement with the Women’s Ministry, Children’s Ministry, and the Prison Ministry.

Preceding her in death are her parents Hugh C Osborne and Gladys Brandon Osborne, her husband Elvis Castor, her brothers Edwin Osborne and Lloyd Osborne.

Surviving Reta are her children, Elvis Castor, Jr. (Debbie), Carthage, MO; Terry Castor (Mendy), Springfield, MO; Greg Castor (Amy), El Dorado Springs, MO; Mark Castor, Carthage, MO; Melinda (Castor) Stout (Jeff), Reeds, MO and Danny Castor (Bobbi), Carthage, MO. Also surviving are grandchildren Zach Brown, Justin Castor (Tisha); Austin Phillips (Katie), Michael A. Castor (Allie), Zachary Castor, Brett Stout (Kennedy), Sosha Juarez (Antonio), Kristen Castor, Seth Castor, James Jones (Shelby), Kasie Stout, Clay Stout, Kip Castor and Kruz Castor, and 10 great grandchildren. Surviving brothers are Hugh J Osborne, Leland Osborne (Linda), sister Linda Castor, sisters-in-law Maxine Lambeth and Lora Lee Sundy. Also surviving are nieces and nephews too numerous to list. Reta was also a second mother to her nephews Gary, Rickey, and Michael Castor, the double-cousins to her children.

Services will be held at Grace Pointe Assembly of God at 10:00 AM Saturday, February 19, 2022. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either Carthage Crisis Center, or to the Grace Pointe Assemblies of God Missions Fund.
