(From Parker Mortuary)Alice Christine Burkhart, age 80, Joplin, passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 in Joplin.
Alice was born June 13, 1941 in Los Angeles, California, daughter of the late Ralph Dennis Heard and Edith Mildred (Shaffer) Heard. Alice moved to Joplin where she graduated from Joplin High School before attending Southern Bible College in Houston, Texas.
She worked for some time as the Manager of Messenger Book Store, then with the Joplin Chamber of Commerce, and retired from All State Optical where she enjoyed serving all the clients she met. She was an active member of the Southside Community Church where she enjoyed serving as church pianist for many years. She was a servant to many, enjoying her time at church, and serving on many committees, and she was also involved with many activities at the church. She loved her daughters, and also her grandchildren very much. She will be greatly missed by many.
In addition to her parents, Alice was preceded in death by two daughters, Nanette Slabaugh and Melissa Perry.
Survivors include her sister, Beth Pretschold and husband Wayne of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and their daughter, Stefani Goerlich; son-in-law, Steve Perry of Joplin, grandchildren, Hunter Perry and wife Lynsey, Lauren C. Porter and husband Kendon, and Rebecca Gubera all of Joplin; great-grandchildren, Connor, Reagan, Bianca, Brooks, Thatcher, Kennedy, and Griffin.
Funeral service will be Saturday, February 26, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel with Pastors Billie Gibson and Roger Sadberry officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Webb City. The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Friday February 25th from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Southside Community Church.
Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin.
