Wilbur Strait

Wilbur Lee Strait, age 79, of Granby, Missouri, passed away at 1:10 a.m. on Saturday,

February 19, 2022, at his home. He was born October 7, 1942, in Granby, the son of the late Virgil and Ora (Shewmake) Strait. On November 15, 1961, he married Carolyn Sue Clark in Granby. She preceded him in death on June 29, 2010.









Wilbur was a lifelong Granby resident and graduated from Granby High School in 1961. He worked for Sunbeam, Teledyne, La-Z-Boy and retired as the custodian of East Newton High School. Wilbur was a Mr. Fix-it. He repaired musical instruments, computers, cars, you name it. He also obtained his cosmetologist and real estate licenses, as to always have a trade to rely on if needed.

He is survived by his three children, Christopher Strait of Granby, Cindy Carpenter and her husband, Carl, of Carl Junction, Missouri, and Stephen Strait and his wife, Jodie, of Davidson, North Carolina; five grandchildren, Justin Phillips and his wife, Rebecca, Jeremy Phillips, Chris Carpenter, Casey Strait and Sean Strait; and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to is wife, Carolyn, his granddaughter, Jessica Phillips and two brothers, Jim and Charles Strait, preceded him in death.

A private family service will be held at a later date. Wilbur will be interred at Granby Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the Clark Funeral Home in Granby. Memorial donations may be made to the Granby Miners Museum c/o Clark Funeral Home, PO Box 26, Granby, MO 64844.
