(From Ulmer Funeral Home)James “Jim” Saferite, 74, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin. Jim was born in Gas, Kansas, on January 17, 1948, to Calvin “Gabby” Saferite, and Georgia “Sproul” Saferite. He was an auto enthusiast, loved to laugh, and never met a stranger. He worked at O’Reilly’s the past 34 years or more.
Jim was united in marriage to Shirley Lee on June 6, 1969 in Carthage, Missouri; she survives.
He is survived by his wife of 52 yrs Shirley Saferite; one daughter, Christina Saferite-Comer (Chris) of Carthage; two granddaughters Bailey and Ashley Comer; one brother, Frank Saferite (Betty) of Carthage; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents Calvin and Georgia Saferite; two sisters, Debby Saferite and April Thorton; and one nephew, Rick Saferite.
A Memorial Visitation will be held at the Ulmer Funeral Home Comunity Room from 2:00 to 4:00 pm this Saturday February 26.2022. Jim's family would appreciate all fellow car enthusiast to drive their favorite hot rod or old restorred classic car in honor of Jim's memory.
