Steve Wild

Mr. Charles “Steve” Stephen Wild, 73, of Joplin, Missouri, formerly of Sarcoxie, passed away on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 in Springfield, Missouri.

Steve entered this life on Thursday, July 29, 1948 in Joplin, Missouri, the only child of Dale E. and Margie Sue (Whiteside) Wild. He attended and was a graduate of Wentworth Military Academy. 


He proudly served in the United States Navy. For many years he worked in the family business, Dale Wild, Sarcoxie Nurseries. 








On June 23, 1988 he was united in marriage to Linda McFarland, together they shared twenty-two years until her passing on March 20, 2010. 

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Sarcoxie. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, flashy cars, the great outdoors, shooting firearms and was a black powder champion. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He will truly be missed by all those who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dale E. and Margie Sue (Whiteside) Wild; wife, Linda (McFarland) Wild and daughter, Lisa Wild Hall.

Steve is survived by his children, Nick Wild and wife, Becky, of Joplin, Marie Moudy and husband, Devin, of Joplin, Kathy Farmer, of Copperas Cove, Texas, and Kevin Granger of Wheaton, Missouri; nineteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Visitation will be Sunday, February 20, 2022 from 2-4:00 p.m. at Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home in Sarcoxie, Missouri. Private graveside services will be held with Donna Hamilton as officiate. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Christopher Farmer, Matthew Farmer, Austin Divine, Gavin Wild, Nathan Hamilton and Trenton Woodall.
