Donald Taylor, 72, passed away on Friday February 11, 2022. He had been in bad health for several months. He was born on June 9, 1949, in Pineville, MO to James and Clara (Mitchel) Taylor. Soon after, Clara married Lee Helms who raised Don as his own.
Don graduated from high school and joined the Army. Don served for 9 years in Vietnam and in Germany. He later worked in construction building roads and bridges. He and his second wife Norma owned and operated the Sugar Shack Bar in Liberal, MO for several years. He went on to work for, and retire from, TAMKO in Lamar, MO.
In April of 2015, he married Teresa Hutching. He enjoyed camping, taking his old Ford to car shows, and spoiling the grandkids.
He leaves behind his wife Teresa of the home; children Barbie James and Jimmy Taylor of Arma, KS, Nicklas Thompson, Beth (Joe) Bazal, Tony (Jaime) Spurling, Rachel (Ashlee) Spurling, and Amy (Brittney) Spurling of Liberal, MO. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jonathan, Katie and Madison Saxinger, Quincy, Kellen, and Natalie Bazal, Riley, Ragan and Remi Spurling, Ella Spurling and Izabelle Sprouls-Twenter; and brother Paul (Tami) Helms of Mindenmines, MO. He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings Robert Helms, Mary Sinclair, and Betty Madison; and infant son Donald Ray Taylor, Jr. Don also leaves behind many friends who will miss all those stories.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday March 6, 2022 at 3 PM at the Kneeland Building in Liberal, MO.
