(From Knell Mortuary)Karen Sue Poulson, 79, Carthage, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin, Missouri. Karen was born March 16, 1942 in Lockwood, Missouri, the daughter of Percy Stout and Esther (Joeckel) Stout. She was a graduate of Lockwood High School in Lockwood, Missouri.
She married Phillip Wayne Poulson, Sr. in 1960; they later divorced. Karen worked for Steadley Company in Carthage. She enjoyed watching TV with her puppy, Taffy, and also enjoyed visiting with her great-grandchildren.
Survivors include two daughters, Lisa Haggard, Carthage, Missouri, and Anita Poulson, Carthage, Missouri; three sons, Phillip Wayne Poulson, Jr., Carthage, Missouri, Lance Poulson, Joplin, Missouri, and Shannon Poulson, Carthage, Missouri; a brother, Jerry Stout (Ann), Carthage, Missouri; three grandchildren, Amanda Mata (Gerardo) of Texas, Kevin Poulson of Texas, and Forrest Keene (Ashly), Sarcoxie, Missouri; thirteen great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; and many extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Laura Ann Poulson; and two brothers, Roy Stout, and Wayne Stout.
Funeral services will be held 10 am, Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at Knell Mortuary. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm, Monday, February 28, 2022 at Knell Mortuary. Cremation will take place after services and the family will have a burial at a later date. Memorial gifts are suggested to a veteran’s organization of one’s choice in care of Knell Mortuary.
