LaVern Moore

Mrs. Dorthy LaVern Moore, 88, of Anderson, Missouri, formerly of Noel, Missouri, departed this life on Sunday morning, February 20, 2022, in the comfort of her home.

LaVern entered this life on September 5, 1933, in Perryton, Texas, daughter of the late Harmon Jefferson Swink, Sr. and Gladys (Newingham) Swink. She moved with her family to Arkansas in 1947. She graduated from Sulphur Springs High School in May of 1950. 








On November 13, 1950, she was united in marriage to Ivan Moore and to this union one daughter was born, Veronica. She retired from Tyson Foods in 2006 as Inspector with twenty plus years of service. Prior to her retirement, she also worked for Winston Industries in Noel and was a waitress at the former Conner Hotel in Joplin and Shadow Lake also in Noel. She enjoyed crocheting, being outdoors and spending countless hours with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of fifty-three years, Ivan Moore on September 16, 2004; six sisters, Evelyn Zinn, Loretta Murray, Geraldine Schibbelhut, Beverly Eckstrom, Sharon Yvonne, and Vonda Swink; and five brothers, Laurence Murray, Joe Murray, Estel Murray, Raymond Murray and Jackie Lee Swink

LaVern is survived by her daughter, Veronica Wilson and husband, Lendall, of Anderson; three grandsons, Christopher Franklin (Misty), Jacob Franklin (Briana) and Garreth Wilson (Shelby); five great grandchildren, Elenora Wilson, Elizabeth Franklin, Alder Wilson, Clara Franklin and Elias Wilson; five sisters, Anna Brown, Vada Mae Murray, Helen Harper, Florence Cook, and Vivian McBee; three brothers, Harmon Swink, Jr., Gery Swink and Sam Murray; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services are 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 25, 2022, in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with Bro. Tom Sumner officiating. Burial will follow at Noel Cemetery. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Lendall Wilson, Chris Franklin, Eddie Sumner, Paul Gardner, Larry Zinn, and B.J. Goodwin.
