Goldie Bailey

Goldie Violet Bailey, age 94, Joplin, passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at Spring River Christian Village with family at her side.

Goldie was born March 9, 1928 in Eldorado, Missouri, daughter of the late Clarence and Josephine (King) Rickey. Goldie had eight sisters and three brothers.

She grew up in Joplin, where she met her husband, Sherman Bailey. They were married in Columbus, Kansas on March 27, 1944. They were blessed with two sons, Sherman Gail and Roger Joe.








Goldie enjoyed selling various items from paper roses, t-shirts, and handmade leather wallets. She lived in Joplin with her family and was an amazing homemaker. Known for her homemade chicken and noodles, and fried gypsy bread, both of which were excellent.

Goldie and Sherman were baptized in 1980 at Fellowship Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Sherman who passed on September 7, 2005. She was also preceded in death by seven sisters and two brothers., and a granddaughter, Lori Ann Bailey.

She is survived by her two sons, Sherman G. Bailey and wife Agnes of Miami, Oklahoma, and Roger J. Bailey and wife Sandra of Carl Junction; seven grandchildren, Joe Bailey and wife Teresa of Carl Junction, Mike Bailey and wife Tara of Seneca, Matt Bailey and wife Jess of Carl Junction, Amanda Kaufman and husband Nick of Wichita, Kansas, Chris Bailey and William Bailey; 15 great-grandchildren, Clayton, Brandan, Tristan, Caleb, Kaylee, Jordan, Jayden, Maddie, Lily, Jacoby, Evie, Noah, Lucas, Payton, and Cady; eight great-great-grandchildren, Lucie, Brenley, Aria, Trestin, Jr., Jasper, Hudson, Beckett, and Briggs; sister, Peggy Turner of Dallas, Texas, brother, Clarence Rickey and wife Diane of Bates City, Missouri; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Friday, May 6, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Jerry Mayfield officiating. Interment will follow in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery with grandsons serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until service time.
