(From Midland Cremation Society)Olive “June” Simons, age 93, passed away peacefully at her home in Girard, KS on August 6, 2022.
June Simons was born May 22, 1929 to James D and Pina Shryer in St Claire County, MO. She married Robert Simons on Nov 8, 1950, and they later divorced.
She worked as a schoolteacher for several years. They later moved to Southeast Kansas, where she worked at a clothing factory.
After the divorce, June moved to Joplin, MO where she worked for several factories. June then moved to Girard, where she was the caretaker of The Raymond Community House for many years. In her final years, her granddaughter, Diane Madl Gallagher, cared for her.
She is survived by one son, Don Simons of Walnut, KS, three daughters Carol Schoenhofer of Webb City, MO, Margueritte (Dan) Needham of Wichita, KS, and Marilyn Schoenhofer of Girard, KS. One sister, Edith Gilbert of Springfield, MO, one brother Morris (Joan) Shryer of Grandby, MO, and one sister-in-law Mabel Shryer of Higginsville, MO.

June was a loving grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother. June cared for Drew, Luke, and Anne Marie Martin during their childhood years and loved them like family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, one infant child, one brother, Gentry Shryer and one sister, Wilodene Manning.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
