(From Brenner Mortuary)Josiah Lee Fletcher, 18, of rural Pittsburg, passed away on Thursday morning, March 2, 2023.
He was born October 5, 2004 at Coffeyville, Kansas, the son of Joshua and Erin (Grant) Fletcher. He attended George Nettels grade school, Pittsburg Community Middle School and was currently a senior at Pittsburg High School.
Josiah was known for the talent and dedication he brought to the PHS marching band, pep band, orchestra band, and pit band for school musicals, but his passion was jazz band. Many will remember him for always standing up for those who were forgotten or looked over.
Membership was held in the Grace Community Church of Riverton, where he played in the Worship Band. He also attended LifeTrack Christian Church, where he played in the Youth Band and the Worship Band. Josiah enjoyed volunteering as a Dragon Mentor at George Nettels and Westside Elementary schools, paying it forward he believed, and with the Special Olympics of Kansas.
Survivors include his parents, Joshua and Erin Fletcher of rural Pittsburg; a sister, Alex Fletcher of the home; paternal grandparents, Doug and Yvonne Fletcher of Riverton, Kansas; maternal grandmother, Judi Grant of Columbus, Kansas; Aunts and Uncles and many cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Mike Grant.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday (March 7) at the Grace Community Church of Riverton, 6484 SE 70th St., Riverton, KS. A funeral service for Josiah will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday (March 8) at Memorial Auditorium, 5th & Pine, in Pittsburg with Pastor Aaron Zustak officiating. Burial will follow in The Mound Cemetery, west of Carl Junction, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to the Josiah Fletcher Memorial Fund.
