(From Lakin Funeral Home)Richard Eugene Mason, age 62, of Webb City, MO passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at Freeman Health System West in Joplin, MO. He was born in Aurora, IL on Thursday, October 6, 1960; son of Loy Eugene and Annabelle (Harmon) Mason. He graduated from Pierce City High School in 1979 where he was a Pierce City Eagle football player.
Mr. Mason enjoyed being with people and having fun. He could be found traveling, being outdoors, watching sports, or tinkering with things. He drove a truck for many years throughout the country. He enjoyed driving and working on diesels. He also spent time four-wheeling, fishing, camping at the lake, hunting, and shooting at the ranges. He farmed dairy cows and crops.
Watching sports was always fun. Mr. Mason was an avid Chiefs fan and watched WWE. He had fun bowling, working word searches, putting models together, and watching Westerns. He was a great son, brother, dad, papa, uncle, and friend!
Surviving are the following: one daughter, Tabatha (Douglas) Alger of Monett, MO; three grandchildren, Taya (Jonathan) Michele Ellis of Vanceboro, NC, Trevor Mateo Ellis and Trishelle Elizabeth Alger of Monett, MO; one great-grandson, Bourbyn Lee Lawrence Horner of Vanceboro, NC; one brother, David (Sandra Dawn) Mason of Pierce City, MO; one sister-in-law, Peggy Mason of Roswell, New Mexico; and many other nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Loy Eugene Mason; one stepson, Steven Lee Wallace; one brother, Robert Mason; two sisters, Christine Pickering and Pamela Mason; and one brother-in-law, Keith Pickering.
Services will be planned by the family, at a later date and time. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, MO.
