(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)Richard A. “Rick Setser, age 77, of Joplin, Missouri passed away at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at Freeman Hospital West in Joplin. Rick was born March 16, 1945 in Joplin, the son of Albert and Katherine Setser. He was a 1963 graduate of Joplin High School and received his Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Arizona State University.
Rick was employed as a District Manager for American Stores, a retail drug store business for 35 years, retiring in 2000, and returning to Joplin. He attended Forest Park Baptist Church. Rick was an avid golfer and made many friends in the golfing community since his return to Joplin.
Rick was preceded in death by his first wife, Peggy, in 1997. He married Linda Conger, August 8, 1998, in Joplin and she survives.
Additional survivors include two sons, Richard Scott Setser, Greeley, Colorado, and Brian Setser and wife Marney, Thornton, Colorado, one step son, Brad Conger and wife Melissa, Olathe, Kansas, one daughter, Amy Daggett and husband Richard, Phoenix, Arizona, one step daughter, Kelli Lawson and husband Mike, Battlefield, Missouri, two brothers, Terry Setser and wife Regina, Hideaway, Texas, and Mark Setser and wife Cheryl, Josephine, Texas, and 8 grandchildren.
Rick’s wishes were to be cremated. A Memorial Service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 18, 2023 at Mason-Woodard Chapel with a Visitation to follow the service. Inurnment will be at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions are requested to the Linda and Rick Setser JHS Class of 1963 Scholarship Fund in care of the Mortuary. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary and Crematory of Joplin, Missouri.
