Sharon Smith

Sharon Diane Smith, of Carthage, MO, departed this life on February 23, 2023 at the age of 51.

Sharon was born September 1, 1971 in Denver, Colorado; however she grew up in Joplin/Carthage area. She attended Joplin public school, until she moved to Carthage in seventh grade and finished school there. She went on to study at Missouri Southern. Sharon worked various jobs throughout her young life, but she loved working with kids the most.

Sharon was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced the special moments she got to share with them. She especially loved her role as Nana Sharon. She had a very comforting personality, and always made people laugh. She made friends anywhere she went and she always wanted to help others.








She is remembered with love by her parents, Peggy J. Schnelle and Douglas P. Schnelle, of Carthage, MO.

She is the loving mother of Maggie J. Henson (29), of Sallisaw, OK, Emmalee K. Wallsmith (27), of Carthage, MO, Sadie J. Casto (25), of Jasper, MO, and Joseph P. Smith (22), of Joplin, MO.

Adored Nana of Mack J. Henson (11), Masie J. Casto (4), Eloise J. Wallsmith (l), and Murphy T. Henson (9 mon.); Dear sister and aunt to Brian S. Schnelle, and Brinn J. Schnelle, of Joplin, MO. Loved mother-in-law of Weston Henson, Bailey Wallsmith, and Mason Casto.

Sharon made many friends in life, she was so beautiful and kind. She loved to laugh. Sharon will be missed by many, but most of all by her family. Knowing she is safe and past her battles, should bring us all comfort.








Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Saturday, March 4, 2023 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 8975 County Lane 170, Carthage, MO., with a funeral service to follow at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Children’s Haven of Southwest Missouri and to the Children’s Diabetes Foundation. Cremation services are under the care of Greenfield Funeral Chapel.
