(From Clark Funeral Home)Wilma Ellen Waggoner, age 96, passed away Friday, March 10, 2023.
Wilma was born March 15, 1926, to Eddie and Alma (Abernathy) Spilman. Wilma attended school in the Pierce City/ Wentworth area. She graduated from Pierce City High school in 1943. After graduation she attended business college and worked in Springfield for several years.
On March 25, 1954, Wilma married Roy Waggoner. They enjoyed 28 years together until Roy preceded her in death on September 20, 1982.
Wilma devoted her life to raising her children and being a supportive farmer’s wife. She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church, Diamond. In her later years, she was a member of Forest Park Baptist Church, Joplin. She served in many roles through the years.
In addition to her husband and her parents, Wilma was preceded in death by her brother, Edwin Spilman.
She is survived by her three children, Ellen Gibson, husband, Jeff, Joplin, Anne Andrews, husband, Clint, Carthage, and Allen Waggoner, wife, Tracy, Tokyo; 7 grandchildren, Sara Robertson, husband, Keith, Emily Tracy, husband, Jerrod, Justin Andrews, wife, Cassandra, Jessica Adams, husband, Aaron, Jacob Andrews, wife, Hannah, Casey and Michaela Waggoner; 9 great-grandchildren, Abby and Will Robertson, Stella, Opal and Ada Tracy, Owen and Adalynne Adams, Oliver and Linden Andrews.
Funeral services are planned for Thursday, March 16 at 2 pm at Forest Park Baptist Church, 7th and Rangeline Road, Joplin, MO. The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday from 1 pm until the service.
