(From Simpson Funeral Home)Betty Marie Wininger, age 73 of Carl Junction, passed away on May 4, 2023 at her home. She was born on March 20, 1950 to Wayne and Pauline (McDermott) Shofler in Webb City.
Betty was the glue to the family- a devoted homemaker and an emphatic grandma and great-grandma. She loved her family, especially the kids. Betty will forever be remembered for being a great listener who never met a stranger.
To her, nothing was more important than family. They came first, and taught them to stand their ground. She would play bingo anywhere where they would let her in. Betty loved flowers, especially iris's.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Pauline Shofler. She is survived by her children Charles Smith of St. Joseph, Donald Smith of Carl Junction, and Steve Smith of Carl Junction; sisters Debra Shofler of Carl Junction and Mary (Bill) Rogers of Pryor, OK; brothers Jack (Belinda) of Alba, Richard of Webb City, and Wayne also of Webb City; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren; along with numerous other members of the family.
A visitation will be held 6-8pm on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at Simpson Funeral Home in Webb City. The funeral service will be held 10am on Thursday, May 11 also at the funeral home. Graveside services will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Webb City.
