(From Derfelt Funeral Home)Sherie Lynn Barnes, age 66, Galena, KS passed away Saturday, July 29, 2023 at her home after a long battle with Cancer.
She was born on March 9, 1957 in Baxter Springs, KS, to Lester Barnes and Iva Jo Outt. She is preceded in death by them and her step-father Frank Outt.
Survivors include two daughters, Angela Town, (husband Cliff) and Christa Kitch. Grandchildren, Brice Bennett, Bailey Bennett, Madison Beasley, Danny McClure, and Aiden Kitch. Great-grandchildren; Fisher Bennett and Milo Bennett; two brothers, Dwight Barnes (wife Vicki), Steven Barnes (wife Susie) and one sister, Connie Seitz (husband John) along with several nieces and nephews.
Sherie worked for Eagle Picher in Joplin for many years in the quality control department, but her true work in life was the love, and life lessons she passed on to her children and grandchildren.
Graveside services will be Friday, August 4, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. in the Lowell Cemetery, Baxter Springs. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 3, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Derfelt’s Baxter Chapel.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Derfelt’s Baxter Chapel.
