(From Derfelt Funeral Home)Clyde Jerome Stansberry, age 88 of Galena, passed away at 10:55 PM on Sunday, August 27, 2023 at Galena Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Clyde was born on August 14, 1935 to Frank Stansberry and Alice Mae (Shira) Stansberry. He spent the majority of his working years in Rialto, CA and Long Beach, CA.
During that time, he worked over 20 years at the Dr. Pepper Bottling Company in Anaheim, CA earning the position of general manager, and also ran a storage unit in Long Beach for 5 years. He moved back to Galena into the home on West 21st Street, which has been in the family for 88 years, and began working as a custodian for Galena USD 499.
He was a member and former board member of Bethel Community Church in Baxter Springs, KS. He enjoyed gardening and golfing, but his greatest joy was his family. He loved their family get-togethers, and never turned down a plate of good old fashioned family cooking. Clyde was a kind and caring man, very sweet, and loved by all.
He was united in marriage with Cathy Isabel. She preceded him in death on November 16, 1983. He later married Patricia Mae (DeGraffenreid) Stansberry at the Old Tennessee Prairie Church, rural Galena, on March 17, 1988. She survives.

Additional survivors include one son, Ronnie Stansberry (wife, Valerie) of Yorba Linda, CA; one daughter, Melinda Stansberry-Harris (husband, Greg) of Corona, CA; two step-daughters, Sharon Tucker (husband, Doug) of Joplin, MO, and Susie Sweet of Galena; one step-son, William "Bill "Jarvis of Galena; one daughter-in-law, Robin Stansberry of Riverside, CA; two brothers, Bill Stansberry (wife, Evelyn) of Carl Junction, MO, and Lonnie Stansberry of Galena; one sister, Betty Rose Sweet of Galena; 16 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Stansberry and Alice Stansberry-Scott; five brothers Porter Leroy Stansberry, Walter Frank Stansberry, Freddie Stansberry, Johnny Ray Stansberry, and Kenneth Stansberry; three sisters, Ruby Rhinehart, Angie Shaver, and Joyce Bell Hopkins; two sons, Gordon "Bubby" Stansberry, and Robin Dale Stansberry.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at Bethel Community Church in Baxter Springs, KS. Pallbearers serving will be Logan Johnson, Mason Qualls, Hayden Qualls, Caleb Wilson, Drew Vice, and Noah Wilson, with Dolton Clyburn and Gannon Johnson serving as honorary pallbearers. Burial will follow at Lowell Cemetery, rural Baxter Springs.
Visitation will take place from 6-7:00 pm on Friday, September 1, 2023 at Derfelt Funeral Home of Galena. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Community Church in care of the funeral home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.derfeltfuneralhomes.com.
