George Jacob Dyer, age 81, of Carthage, passed away on Monday, August 14, 2023, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin.
George, son of the late Joseph and Lonis (Mers) Dyer, was born on December 25, 1941, in Louisville, KY. He moved at a young age to Carthage, MO and was a graduate of Carthage High School with the Class of 1959. He was employed until his retirement with the Carthage Water and Electric Plant.
George was previously married to Deloris Dyer, and to this union three children were born, Chad, Chris, and Carla. Later he was united in marriage to Carla Collins, she survives.
George never met a stranger and was a friend to everyone. He enjoyed his bowling leagues, fishing, and watching old western movies. He was a little league coach for over 30 years and was a skilled guitar player having played in several local bands throughout the years. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who will be deeply missed.
Survivors include his wife, Carla (Collins) Dyer, of Carthage; his children, Chad Dyer, and his wife, Carol, of Joplin, Chris Dyer, and his wife, Kim, of Neck City, and Carla Hibdon, and her husband, Rick, of Joplin; step-children, Anthony Collins, of Joplin, Tiona Rodriguez, and her husband, Jesus, of Ardmore, OK, Vida Morgan, of Overland Park, KS, and Syndi Young, and her husband, Kyle, of Liberal; several grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren.

Cremation arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin.
