Betty Carpenter

Betty Jane Carpenter, 86, of Sulphur Springs, Arkansas was called to Heaven on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at her residence following a sudden illness.

She was born on April 23, 1937 in Antigo, Wisconsin, born to the late, Joseph Matt and Alice Rose (Kaffka) Holy. 








Betty married Donald Carpenter on October 6, 1955 at Maysville, Arkansas and to this union, four children were born. She worked for O’Brien farms for five years and over 20 years at Hudson Foods in Noel, Missouri. Betty enjoyed quilting, crocheting and especially gardening and taking care of her many plants. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Southwest City, Missouri. Previously, she attended the Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Sulphur Springs, Arkansas for several years, teaching Sunday School and was very involved in the puppet ministry.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald Carpenter; great grandsons, Jacob and Jesse Carpenter.








She is survived by her children, Melvin Carpenter (Betty M.) of Sulphur Springs, Arkansas, Melanie Deskis (Dale) of St. Louis, Missouri, Paula Sill (Curt) of Joplin, Missouri, Donna Bratton (Richard) of Southwest City, Missouri; two brothers, Charles Holy (Kay) of Lee Summit, Missouri, Marion “Bill” Liles (Janie) of Webb City, Missouri; six grandchildren, Melvin Carpenter, Jr., Dawn Davis, Jennifer Keeling, Amber Hatfield, Aaron Bratton, Kyle Sill; ten great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren; as well as a host of other family, friends and neighbors who will dearly miss Betty.

Graveside funeral service for Betty will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, August 24, 2023 at the Southwest City Cemetery in Southwest City, Missouri. Pastor Larry Hendren will officiate. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Home.
