(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)Rushel “Shelly” Dalyn Sherwood was born on April 21, 1965 at Freeman hospital in Joplin, Missouri to Mr. Dwane Sherwood and Mrs. Joyce Sherwood.
During her childhood, Shelly was blessed when Charles Finter became her stepfather. A native to Joplin, Shelly grew up an avid piano player and was a music lover. She graduated from Parkwood High School in 1983, where she was active as a pianist in concert choir.
Shelly took several college courses at Missouri Southern State University and Central State. After high school, she moved to Edmond, Oklahoma. While in Oklahoma, she began her 30-year career where she held many positions with the state employment agency. Her career ended as a fraud investigator.
Shelly was married to Paul Moser on August 3, 1991 in Joplin, Missouri at Calvary Baptist Church where, she was a member. One year later, the couple was blessed with their pride and joy, Matthew Moser. She faithfully attended her son’s sporting events, was an avid college football fan, and loved to read.

Shelly was a woman of faith and recently started attending James River Church. After battling a long illness, Shelly passed away at age 58 on August 15, 2023 in Joplin, Missouri surrounded by her loving family.
Shelly was preceded in death by her father, Dwane Sherwood, her stepfather, Charles Finter, and her brother, Brent Sherwood.

Shelly is survived by her mother, Joyce (Abernathy) Finter, her husband; Paul Moser, her son, Matthew Moser, her daughter-in-law, Morgan (Makeeff) Moser, one expected grandson, Reuben Moser, two nieces on her mother’s side, Ashlee and Haley, two lifelong friends, Teri Rodriguez and Debbie Golden, as well as a large extended family that includes cousins, nieces, nephews, brother and sister in laws, and many faithful friends.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 19, 2023 at the Mason-Woodard Chapel. The family will receive friends during a time of visitation following the service on Saturday.
