Tim Layton

Timothy "Tim” Lee Layton, age 63, of Wentworth, MO passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at his home. He was born in Monett, MO on Sunday, December 13, 1959; son of Benjamin Sr. and Helen (Fenske) Layton. He was the 10th of 13 children. He went to Pierce City High School. 

Tim enjoyed hunting arrowheads along creeks and farmlands. He was a fisherman and an outdoor lover. He often worked in his yard and garden. Tim was a carpenter for many years. He cared about friends and family. His pets were also well cared for and loved. Tim was of the Catholic faith and lived in this area all his life. He will be missed by many!

Surviving are the following: his partner of 24 years, Virginia (Crady) Alvis; seven brothers: Ben Layton, Jr. of Pierce City, MO, Rodney Layton of Joplin, MO, Edwin Layton of Monett, MO, Michael Layton of Joplin, MO, Thomas Layton of Broken Arrow, OK, Doug Layton of Monett, MO, Bruce Layton of Diamond, MO; two sisters, Mary Blevins of Pierce City, MO, Tonette M. Munson of Joplin, MO; many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Mr. Layton was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Sr. and Helen Layton; and three brothers, Gary, Kenny, and John Layton.

Mr. Layton has been cremated at his request. Private family services will be at a later time. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, MO.
