(From Clark Funeral Home)Darrel Wayne Burkhart, 78, entered into rest on August 14, 2023, at his home in Neosho, Missouri. He was born September 15, 1944, to Orville Burkhart and Emma Jean (McGraw) in Racine, Missouri. He was a lifelong resident of the area.
He graduated from Seneca High School, Class of 1962. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served as a parachute rigger.
After his service in the Navy, he worked for the Missouri Department of Conservation as a Grassland Firefighter stationed in Leasburg, St. Charles County, and Neosho, Missouri, where he retired in 2000. Darrel loved deer and turkey hunting, fishing, and traveling to National Parks as well as watching Western movies.
Darrel was united in marriage to Linda Schlessman in Neosho, Missouri, on August 7, 1965. She survives. In addition to his wife, Darrel is survived by his daughter Casey, and her husband Haden Henson, one grandson Sean Henson, one sister Deanna Gorham and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Tex Burkhart, and a sister, Linda J. Tanner.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Canera Catholic Church at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 26, 2023. Father Chaz Dunn will conduct Mass.
