(From Parker Mortuary)Mervin Leroy Phillips, age 91, Racine, MO, passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at his home with family at his side.
Mervin was born December 13, 1931 in Dawson County, TX, son of the late George Roy Phillips and Gladys (Williams) Phillips. He grew up in Texas working on the family farm and going to school at Lamesa High School. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Korea.
He returned home and worked in maintenance before moving to the Joplin area in 1972 with his wife, Barbara Joan (Madden) Phillips and their children. He retired from Eagle Picher of Joplin. He was a member of the Monarch Baptist Church of Neosho.
In addition to his parents, Mervin was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Pearl, and a brother, Harold Clifton Phillips.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Joan Phillips of Racine, two sons, Britt Phillips, and Randy Phillips also of Racine; grandchildren, Sheena, Megan, and Codi; great-grandchildren, Eli and Jenaiveve; several nieces and nephews.
Memorial service with military honors will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Monarch Baptist Church in Neosho.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
