(From Derfelt Funeral Home)Donald Eugene Davis, 86, passed away Friday evening, August 11th, 2023 at his home in Neosho Missouri.
Don was born January 6th, 1937 at Derby, Kansas. He was the son of Ross and Gladys (Hamilton) Davis. He was raised and received his education in Rose Hill, Kansas. At the age of 13, due to the untimely death of his Father, Don helped run the family dairy farm. He graduated from Rose Hill High School in 1955.
Right after high school he was united in marriage to Charlene (Payton) on July 3rd, 1955. The couple initially made their home on the family farm in Rose Hill Kansas then moved to Douglass Kansas. After the birth of their fourth child, they moved to a farm in Atlanta Kansas where they lived for 54 years.
In 2018 Don and Charlene sold the farm and moved to Neosho, Missouri. After high school Don worked at Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas where he received many employee awards and retired 37 years later. He later worked for the Burden School District as manager of the bus barn.
Growing up Don was a member of the Rose Hill Friends church and then after Don and Charlene moved to Atlanta, they were members of the Timber Creek Friends church for 54 years where he served faithfully and tirelessly including managing the grounds, the cemetery, was worship leader and headed up the Friend’s Disaster Service. After moving to Neosho, they became members of Wyandotte Friends Church.
Don is survived by his wife of 68 years, Charlene Davis. He is also survived by his four children: Mark Davis and (Billie Jo Ray) of Burden, KS; Donna and (Garrett) Sandell of Marco Island, FL; Wesley and (Jennifer) Davis of Galena, KS and Shelly Bergland of Branson, MO. His surviving grandchildren are, Jacob Davis & (Kasie Hushaw) of Burden, KS, Jonathan and (Hilary) Davis of Wichita, KS, (Barbara Davis of Pittsburgh, PA), Jessi and (Emily) Davis of Medford OR, Jeremy Woods of Winfield, KS, Heidi and (Mitchell) Potucek of Winfield, KS, Joshua Davis of Bentonville, AR, Mackenzie and (Mikey) Fetner of Capistrano Beach, CA, Karianna and (Justin) Miller of Quantico, VA, Daniel Bergland and (Mizuki Katakura) of Miami, FL. His surviving great grandchildren are: Alexandra, Massey, Sierra, Desiree, Loggan, Kinley, Karson, Kennison, Neveah, Noah, Riley, Greyson, Thatcher, Addison, Andie, Wellon, Sailor, Cove, Walker and Rylee; Step-grandchildren are Grant and his wife (Rachel), Hunter and his wife (Morgan), Ethan, Addison, Ana, Hannah & her husband (Martin), and great, grand step-children Oakley, Harvey and Samuel. He is also survived by his sister, Viola Nelson of Russellville, AR;
Don was preceded in death by his parents Ross Davis and Gladys (Davis) Bannon, his brother Lawrence Davis, his sister Cordelia Hinshaw, and his grandson, Jared Davis.

Don was a very hard worker, but he had many favorite hobbies. He loved going to the lake boating, skiing, and fishing with family and friends. Many trips to the lake were with their closest friends Richard and Paula Pearson. They sought to take their children to all 48 contiguous states and spent many summers accomplishing that goal. He was an avid John Wayne fan and enjoyed the westerns. He enjoyed rodeos where he participated in bareback bronc riding, bull riding and was often a rodeo clown.
The family will conduct 2 services. The first on Friday, August 18, 2023 at 11:00 am at Grace Community Church in Riverton, KS and the second on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at Rose Hill Friends Church in Rose Hill, Ks. At Rose Hill visitation will be held at 10:00 am, service at 11:00 am and graveside will follow the service at the Rose Hill Friends Cemetery.
