(From Derfelt Funeral Home)Adelina Lea “Deanie” Munoz Ellis Johnson, 97, of Columbus, KS passed from this life on Monday, August 21, 2023, at Medicalodge of Columbus, KS.
Deanie was born February 24, 1926, in Quapaw, Oklahoma to the union of Fernando and Mary (Henning) Munoz. Deanie graduated from Cherokee County Community High School with the class of 1944.
Deanie was united in marriage to Dale Ellis on December 6, 1946, in Yuma, AZ. Later, after the passing of Dale, Deanie married Moore Johnson in April 1981 in Columbus, KS.
Deanie is preceded in death by her parents, Fernando and Mary Munoz; husbands, Dale Ellis and Moore Johnson; siblings, Sylvina Munoz May, Bea Munoz Cowan, F. E. “Joe” Munoz Jr., and Frankie Munoz; nephew, Bill Munoz.
Deanie is survived by three sons, D.G. Ellis (Paula) of Jenks, OK, Bob Ellis (Cindy) Webb City, MO, Mike Ellis (Peggy) Columbus, KS; special niece, Marylin Cowan Shumake (Darrel); eight grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren; along with several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 28, 2023, at Park Cemetery Pavilion. Pastor Johnnie Adkins will officiate. Visitation will be held prior to the graveside at 9:00 a.m., in the pavilion.
Pallbearers for the service are Jim Cowan, Dustin Ellis, David Ellis, Brian Ellis, Clint Ellis, Alec Damrill; honorary pallbearers are Jeff Springman, Shaun Kloer, Dan Walters, and Dustin Damrill, Andy Young.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Columbus Public Library (Children’s Section) or Columbus First Baptist Church or Alzheimer's Association. in care of the funeral home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.derfeltfuneralhomes.com.
