(From Parker Mortuary)Billie Jean Highley, age 72, of Joplin, MO, passed away on Monday, August 21, 2023 at her home.
Billie was born on January 7, 1951 in Galena, Kansas to the late union of William and Betty (Pigg) Karr. She was a 1969 graduate of Galena High School.
She married Jack Leroy Highley on June 17, 1974 in Miami, Oklahoma and he survives of the home. Together they were blessed with 49 years before her passing.
She worked as a city clerk in Oronogo, MO for around 3 years. But mostly spent her time taking care of their two children, Jody and Scott. She enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling, and going to the lake. Billie loved purses and jewelry. She had a collection of about 200 purses. She loved her shih-tzu (Snoopy).
If there was any time to get away for a little bit, you would find Billie and Jack in the country or relaxing on a boat in the lake enjoying the beautiful sights and quiet moments.
Billie is survived by her husband, Jack, of the home; two children, Jody (Karr) Zacny, of Joplin and Scott Highley, of Grove, OK; one grandson, Keven Zacny, of Joplin; one sister, Linda Jay and husband, Bill, of Rogers, AR; and four nieces, Kerry, Kayce, Kimberly, and Krista, all of Rogers, AR.
A private family viewing will be held at the mortuary.
Cremation arrangements are under the special care and direction of Parker Mortuary.
