Gerald Lee Ambrosius was born April 28, 1936 in Molene, Illinois, the oldest of three children to Donald and Irma Ambrosius. He entered into rest on August 20, 2023, at his home with his loving family beside him, at the age of 87.
Gerald grew up traveling with his minister father and was in numerous schools throughout his childhood. He graduated from Western University in McCombs, IL with a general studies degree. He then went into the Army and served his country in Korea.
He was an avid animal lover and raised many goats, chickens, pigeons, and sheep. You would find him happiest when he was out fishing and working in his garden.
Gerald met and married the love of his life, Gloria Warren on February 28, 1965. She survives. They settled in Joplin, Missouri and made it their home for over 50 years and raised their children; two daughters, Gina (Lee) Breedlove of Joplin, Gwen (Troy) Malone of Cheyenne, WY and one son, Gary (Angel) Ambrosius of Carthage.
Other survivors include four grandchildren, Zelina (Taylor) Haas, Zane (Kassandra) Ambrosius, Kylie and Alaina Kolkman and two great grandsons and one great granddaughter on the way. He is also survived by one brother, Norman Ambrosius of Joplin.
In addition to his parents, he is proceeded in death by a sister, Ruby Ambrosius.
Celebration of life will be at Grace Communion in Carterville, MO on Saturday, August 26 at 2 PM
