(From Derfelt Funeral Home)Philip Clabe Ferneau, age 63 of Riverton, KS, passed away unexpectedly at 7:33 PM on Sunday, August 13, 2023 at Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg, KS.
Philip was born in Joplin, MO on September 19, 1959 to the union of Jerry Ferneau and Phyllis (Cockrum) Ferneau. He graduated from Joplin High School in the late 1970's.
After attending trade school, he began working at Kemlee Manufacturing in Galena, KS. He continued his employment there for the rest of his life, at one point earning the title of Lead Man. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, and also enjoyed watching Alaskan Bush People on TV, playing video games, and playing his drums.
He was united in marriage with Gwenda Scott in Eureka Springs, AR on January 20, 2001. She survives.
Additional survivors include two sons, Jake Ferneau of Strafford, MO, and Rayden Lindsey of the home; three daughters, Kelly Rhuems of Galena, KS, Michaela Tackett (husband, David) of Galena, and Abriana Ferneau of Joplin; two brothers, Scott Cash of Overland Park, KS, and Jeff Ferneau of Ozark, MO; two sisters, Debbie Parker of Joplin, Teresia Bunting of Memphis, TN; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Phyllis Brown; and one son, Jesse Shaffer.
Mr. Ferneau has been entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home of Galena for cremation. The family will host a celebration of life at 4:30 PM on Friday, August 18, 2023 at Schermerhorn Park in Galena, KS.
