(From Parker Mortuary)Floyd L. Ellison, age 84, of Joplin, Missouri passed away at 9:00 p.m. on Monday, August 17, 2026 at his home following an extended illness.
Floyd was born May 16, 1942 in Joplin, Mo. He was the son of the late Leslie and Beatrice Ellison of Joplin. Floyd was in the Missouri National Guard from June of 1960 until January 1962, then in the United States Air Force from 1962-1966. Floyd was a veteran of the Vietnam era and spent 44 months overseas. He graduated from Carl Junction High School in 1960. He was preceded in death by a sister, Annis Jane Medley and two brothers, Eldon and Lomar Ellison.
Floyd was a Christian and a member of Christ Community Church of Joplin. He was also a past master of Carl Junction Lodge 549 AF/AM; York Rite Bodies; Scottish Rite; past master unit of Abou Ben Adhem; Abou Ben Adhem of Springfield and held previous membership in Joplin Elks 501, Joplin Golf Club and worked with Junior Golf for 15 years.
Floyd was an avid golfer, playing many golf tournaments and won at Cassville five times and the State Elks. Mr. Ellison played on the Horton Smith and Ky Lafoon cup matches as recently as 1998. He was past president of Joplin Golf Club.
Mr. Ellison worked for 22 years for Sperry-Vickers, Inc. of Joplin, worked golf maintenance at Twin Hills Country Club, and worked for eleven years at O'Sullivan of Lamar, retiring in 2004.
Survivors include his wife, Vera of the home; brother Condia Ellison of Roanoke, Texas and several nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends.
Funeral services are planned for Friday, August 21, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Community Church in Joplin, Missouri with Pastor's Chris Sloan and Bob Dart, officiating. Family will receive friends prior to the service starting at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will take place following the service at Osborne Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers include John Cripps, Lonnie Cripps, Rodney Cripps, Dan Nielson, Tim Ellison and Don Chartier. Honorary Pallbearers are Bob Cox, Wayne Medley and Jay Shaw.
The family request memorial contributions to be made to the following options: Shriner's Hospital of St. Louis, Christ Community Church Building Fund or wheelchair ramp ministry, or Elk's Christmas Basket Fund.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.

Dang..ole Floyd was a fixture at schifferdecker. He was a great guy….that loved golf. Prayers for him and his family
