Donald LaVern Wiese passed away Monday, January 9, 2017 in Joplin, Missouri. He was born in Verona, Missouri to Albert Emil Wiese and Letha Ann Hillhouse. Donald graduated from Sarcoxie High School in 1945; enlisted in the United States Navy and served in the Pacific Theatre during WWII. Honorably discharged in 1946, he served eight more years in the Naval Reserves.
Donald met and married the love of his life, Jerre Lela Neighlinger, on Sept. 5, 1959 at the Bethany Presbyterian Church. They made their home in Joplin for 51 years until Jerre's passing on May 16, 2010.
Donald's work consisted of 10 years at Steadley Company of Carthage, MO plus 20 years in the retail automobile business in the Joplin area. He finished his work career as owner of the Karmel Korn Store at the Joplin Mall.
Don was a member of several fraternal organizations and churches during his lifetime. He was a charter member of Peace Lutheran Church of Joplin, and the Joplin Masonic Lodge #335 for 50 years.
Donald leaves behind a younger brother, Clarence, of Chicago, Illinois plus many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Parker Mortuary.
The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary from 9:00 a.m. until service time.
