Dora May Buening was born April 18, 1937 into the large family of Luster and Elvie Arehart. The family knew hard times and simple pleasures. They were close friends with the Buening family. From childhood playmates, Dora and Roy grew to fall in love.
On Sept 27, 1954 Roy and Dora married young and started their adventure in life together. They had four girls and one son, Glenda, Melody, who died shortly after birth, Howard, Sandy and Cindy. She spent the next years devoted to raising her kids and volunteering at her kid's school and activities.
In 1975, Dora returned to school and obtained her LPN nursing degree, and worked for many years at Neosho Senior Center.
She devoted her life to being a wife, mother and grandmother. Many occasions were spent around her table with the ever growing family gathered together eating and enjoying each other's company. She was a very active member throughout her lifetime at the Swars Prairie Methodist Church.
She loved the color green, the scent of lavender, giving and receiving gifts, weak coffee and rich desserts, cooking for her family, window shopping, Days of Our Lives, and the occasional (some would say frequent) debate. Her legacy of cooking, bossing, worrying and loving will live on through her children and grandchildren.
On August 16, 2002, after a long battle with cancer, Dora lost Roy, the love of her life, just when they were planning their adventures of retirement together – a piece of Dora left with Roy and she never stopped missing him.
She went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 26, 2017 after a battle with cancer; her family by her side and her children providing round the clock care and keeping watch for her. Dora is survived by her four children, Glenda Hudelson and husband, Bruce; Howard Buening and wife, Terry; Sandy Renfro and husband, Everett and Cindy Block and husband, Jason; nine grandchildren; twenty five great grandchildren; one brother, Wayne Arehart and two sisters, Darlene Easley and Virginia Buening.

Graveside services for Dora will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2017 at 2 pm at the Thompson Grove Cemetery, Seneca, Chaplain Danny Durbin will officiate. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 5:30 to 7:00 pm Monday evening at the Clark Funeral Home, Neosho. Contributions in memory of Dora may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, c/o Clark Funeral Home, PO Box 66, Neosho, MO 64850.
