Steven Darrell Myers, 62, passed away at his home on Sunday, January 29, 2017. Steven was born April 3, 1954 in Wichita, Kansas to Fred Myers and Hazel “Rodgers” Myers.
Steven graduated from Wichita North High School in 1973. He attended Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, then went on to graduate from the Gemological Institute of America in Santa Monica, California in 1982 with a Graduate Gemologist Diploma.
Steve married his college sweetheart, Susan Frerer on April 7, 1979 at Zion Baptist Church East of Jasper, Missouri, where he was a member.
Steve is survived by his wife Susan, daughter Audrey Taffner and husband Jerred and his two beloved grandchildren Alex and Natalie, all of Jasper. Additional survivors include one brother, John Myers and wife Lou of Ft. Worth, Texas, one sister Pam Squires and husband J.D. of Danielsville, Georgia, three brothers-in-law, Michael Frerer and wife Shirley, Fred Frerer and wife Raye, Mark Frerer and wife Mary, two sisters-in-law, Rebecca Ann Terrill and husband Bill, Rachel Jan Sturm and husband Paul, along with many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jim Myers, and parents-in law, Joseph and Marie Frerer.
Memorial services to celebrate Steve’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 4th at Ulmer Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 3rd.
Memorial contributions may be made to the National Prion Disease Pathology Surveillance Center in care of Ulmer Funeral Home.
Arrangements are under the direction of Ulmer Funeral Home.
