Roger Thomas Wells, age 70, Joplin, passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at Freeman West Hospital.
Roger was born October 14, 1946 in McMinnville, Oregon. He enlisted in the United States Navy out of high school, and served during the Vietnam Era. He stayed with the Navy until his retirement in 1986 as Master-at-Arms Petty Officer 1st Class (E6). After his military career he worked as an independent contractor, where he helped many people with projects, and did a lot of work for the Sonic's in this area doing remodeling for the restaurants. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Lodge of Joplin, Elks Club of Joplin, Veterans of Foreign War (V.F.W.), and the American Legion.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Roger Taisi Wells.
Survivors include his children, Richard Wells and wife Sarah Jean of Cornelius, North Carolina, Christina Leanne Montpetit of Molalla, Oregon, Nele Thuening of West Columbia, Texas; sister, Kay Bishop of Kansas City, Missouri; companion, Billie Sheets of the home; grandchildren, Katherine Brundage, Deena Griffin, Kyleigh Wells, Zechariah Wells, Christian T. Wells-Montpetit, Courtney C. Montpetit; great-grandchildren, Malachi and Hunter.
Memorial services will be Friday, January 20, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel with Jeff D. Martin officiating.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
