Carl Eugene Sturgeon, age 62, of Fairview, Missouri, passed away Saturday, January 14, 2017 at his home.
He was born January 29, 1954 in Neosho, Missouri to Kenneth Carl and Mary Eileen (Adams) Sturgeon. On January 29, 1981 he was united in marriage to Janet Hallmark who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Zeb Sturgeon and his wife Brynae of Natoma, Kansas and Kenneth Sturgeon of Stark City, Missouri; one daughter Alicia Robbins and her husband Patrick of Neosho, Missouri; his father and step-mother, Kenneth and Willadean Sturgeon of Stella, Missouri; one sister, Beverly Hill of Alma, Kansas; a step-sister, Joy Tichenor and her husband Ed of Abilene, Texas; a step-brother, Bill Cooper of Wheaton, Missouri; and grandchildren, Mia Robbins, Colten Robbins and Baby Sturgeon on the way.
Preceding him in death were his mother in 1996; one brother, James Hill and one sister, Phyllis Peters.
Carl attended school at Stella, Fairview and graduated from Wheaton High School. He was a life-long member of Wheaton First Baptist Church. He was a self-employed farmer and also owned and operated a fertilizer truck. While leading a successful life as a farmer and business owner, he always made time to attend his children's school activities. Even at times driving the tractor from the field to the ball diamond to watch their ball games. He loved his family and they came first. Later he was employed at AH Hammen Trucking. Carl was a collector of Massey Ferguson tractors and other farm equipment. He also enjoyed restoring old pedal tractors and small toy tractors and trucks.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at Wheaton Southern Baptist Church, under direction of McQueen Funeral Home in Wheaton. Pastor Donnie Spears and Pastor Paul Wahlert will conduct the services. Burial will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery at Pioneer, Missouri.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at McQueen Funeral Home in Wheaton.
Contributions may be made to Mt. Olive Cemetery in memory of Carl.
