Phyllis Sanders, age 86 of Neck City, Missouri passed away Sunday January 22, 2017 following a decline in health.
She was born July 7, 1930 in Pontiac, Michigan to Bert and Nina (Petefish) Silvey.
Phyllis graduated from Alba High School in Alba, Missouri. She married Herman “Doc” Sanders in August, 1949 and had four children before divorcing in 1979.
She is survived by two sons, Randy Sanders and wife Marcia, Van Buren, Arkansas, Rod Sanders and wife Jane, Joplin, Missouri; two daughters, Rhonda Snyder and husband Wayne, Neck City, Missouri, Ragena Snyder and husband Duane, Neck City, Missouri; three sisters, Helen Johnston, Mablemount, Washington, Eileen Toepfer, Baxter Springs, Kansas, Carol Jelinek, Carthage, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Matt Sanders, Adam Sanders, April Brann, Sheba Cook, Nikki Mayfield, Jennifer Waggoner, Zach Snyder; six great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
Phyllis was preceded in death by one brother, Buford Silvey; four sisters, Jean Pierce, Luella Ferris, Norma Koehler, Janie Silvey; two grandchildren, Brian Snyder and Cody Sanders.
Phyllis retired from Big Smith Manufacturing in Carthage, Missouri where she worked as a seamstress. She was a long time member of the Church of God (7th Day) in Joplin, Missouri where she was a “door greeter” for many years. She loved meeting people, visiting shut ins, singing and going on trips.
Memorial services will be held at the Church of God (7th Day) 2225 N. St. Charles Avenue, Joplin, Missouri at 2:15 pm on Saturday February 18, 2017.
