Eleanor Mary Bartz, age 91 of Joplin, Mo., passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Communities of Wildwood in Joplin, Mo following an illness of six months.
Eleanor was born on January 4, 1926 in Sheldon Center, Ny., the daughter of Edward and Ester(Reiter) Riter. She has lived in Joplin since 1973 moving here from New Mexico, Eleanor spent her days loving and caring for her family as a homemaker, she also worked in the hospitals and retired in 1990. She was a member of St. Canera’s Catholic Church in Neosho.
She married Richard Bartz on May 30, 1956, he proceeded her in death in 2014. Survivors include one son, Gary Bartz and wife Beth of Joplin; two daughters, Patty McKay and husband Steve of Kansas City, Mo, Sharon Bartz of Joplin; six grandchildren, Navarre, Meagan, Grace, Ian, Lydia and Joseph, and three great-grandchildren, Patrick, Andrew and Leona. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Charles Riter, and two sister, Dorothy Martin and Alma Riter.
Services have been scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January12, 2017 at St. Canera’s Catholic Church, Neosho Mo. Reverend Derek Swanson will officiate. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. in the St. Bridget Cemetery, Scammon, Ks. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at the church.
The family has requested contributions be given to St. Canera’s Catholic Church.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
