Henry Wilson Owens, age 64, Galena, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at his home with family at his side.
Henry was born June 18, 1952 in Spring City, Missouri, son of the late Samuel Luther Owens and Emma May Fawver Owens. He attended school in Spring City, and moved to Galena in 1982. He worked all his life as either an auto mechanic or in construction, mainly as a drywall hanger. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Clarence, Clifford, Bill, Lawrence, and Chester, and a sister, Francis McCammon.
Survivors include his wife, Delores D. Owens whom he married April 8, 1977; sons, Henry Wilson Owens, II, Hank Owens and wife Stephanie all of Galena; daughters, Tina Jones of Galena, Tammy Adu and husband Solomon of Springfield, Missouri, Lorie McCammon and husband Martin of Ozark, Missouri; brothers, Jack Owens and wife Sue, Herbert Owens and wife Barbara all of Granby, Missouri; sister, Vera Johnston and husband Marvin of Joplin; 18 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be Monday, January 16, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Bob Winnett officiating. Interment will follow in Kenney Cemetery with Cord McCammon, Martin McCammon, III, Martin McCammon IV, Craig Owens, Joshua Cooper and Harley Cooper serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Sunday from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials contributions be made to Dee to help with expenses.
