(From Parker Mortuary)
The world lost a beautiful man and one of a kind soul on January 7, 2017 with the passing of Nathan Colson, age 47. Usually the smartest person in the room, his intellect and wit was unmatched.
Nathan was born in Joplin on April 5, 1969. He graduated from Joplin High School and SMSU with degrees in Political Science and Journalism. A career writer and marketer with Intrav, Kiwi Creative and various freelance clients in St. Louis.
Strong yet sensitive, he had a big heart with undying love for his family and friends. He found beauty in nature and music. His guitar went everywhere with him and he had a unique ability to hear a song once and play it.
His spirit is carried on by his proudest accomplishment, his daughter, Madison Sohosky. He was also exceptionally caring and loving to his soul mate and best friend of 24 years, Christine Manfrede, and their dogs, Izzy and Zoe.
He is survived by his mother Cathy Bechtel and stepfather, Terry Bechtel, Joplin; father, Alan Jensen, Palisade, Colorado; half sister, Chanel Jensen; adopted parents, Gary and Karen Colson, Joplin, brother, Garyn Colson, Joplin, daughter, Madison Sohosky, Joplin; step sister, Tamara Colson; nieces, Alyx Colson, Taylor Colson, Taryn Colson, all of Joplin; aunts, Ronda Brown and husband, Terry, Rogers, Arkansas, Linda Clemons, Carl Junction; uncles, Dennis Iles and wife, Gayla, Cleveland, Tennessee, Kevin Iles, Jasper, Missouri; and cousins, Shane McCorkle, St. Louis, Missouri, Matt Clemons, Rowlett, Texas, Evan Clemons, Bentonville, Arkansas, Jason Iles, Republic, Missouri, Eric Iles, Nixa, Missouri and Katie Norris, Greenwood, Indiana.
To honor him, please consider an act of kindness for someone (animals included) in his name. Thank you for the memories, Nathan. We will eternally love you.
Nathan's body has been entrusted to Parker Mortuary for cremation. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
