Nava Jean McClendon was born Dec. 5, 1946 in Granby, Missouri, the daughter of Rev. Virgil and Opal (Jones) Johnson. She entered into rest on Jan. 26, 2017 at her home in Diamond at the age of 70, following a short illness.
Nava was a lifelong area resident and a homemaker. She enjoyed singing and was a song leader at the Granby Miracle Church for many years. She was a member of the Silver Moon Full Gospel Church.
Nava married Robert L. McClendon on Feb. 14, 1969 at the Assembly of God Church in Neosho and he survives. Additional survivors include one daughter, Shelly Edens and husband, Jamie of Granby; one son, Robert Kyle McClendon and wife, Oneva of Holliday, MO; one brother, Virgil Johnson of Diamond; two sisters, Sue Kelly of Joplin and Shirley Brashears of Granby; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Alivia J. Howard.
Services for Nava will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2017 at 10 am at the Silver Moon Full Gospel Church, Pastor Phil Barber and Jim Shelton will officiate. Interment will be in the Granby Memorial Cemetery and serving as pallbearers will be Dakota Edens, Jairus Moore, Levi Edens, Zachary D. Cullom, Michael Wallace and David Palmer. Honorary pallbearers will be Megan Wallace and Ashton Moore. The family will receive friends Monday evening at the Clark Funeral Home, Neosho from 5:30 to 6:30 pm. The casket will be closed at all times.
