Cleo E. Westbay, 85, Carthage, MO, passed away Tuesday evening, January 24, 2017 at Mercy Hospital Joplin. Cleo Wallace was born June 23, 1931 in Delaware County, OK to Jesse Wallace and Marry (Morrow) Wallace. She was a member of Lamar High School, Class of 1947. Cleo married Laren Gail Westbay on June 22, 1947 in Girard, Kansas, he preceded her in death on September 17, 2002. She worked thirty years as Deputy Assessor for Jasper County. Cleo was a member of the First Christian Church, Red Hat Ladies of Carthage, Business Women of Missouri, Business Women of Missouri Foundation and the Eminence Chapter Order of the Eastern Star (50 Year member).
Survivors include, one daughter; Rita (husband Rick) Stiles, Joplin, MO, one son; Ron (wife Jeannette) Westbay, Carthage, MO, grandchildren Dustin Westbay (wife Tina), Lee Conlee (husband Keaton), Curtis Westbay, Susan Smith (husband Tyler), Alice Stiles, Daniel Stiles and great-grandchildren Daisy Westbay, Cole Westbay, Alex Westbay, Jake Conlee, Iris Conlee.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a brother, Cecil Wallace.
Visitation will be held 6:00 – 7:00 p.m., Friday, January 27, 2017 at Knell Mortuary. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 28, 2017 in the Knell Mortuary Chapel. Minister Ty Walkinshaw will officiate. Interment will follow at the Lamar Memory Gardens Cemetery, Lamar, MO. Memorial gifts are suggested to Business Women of Missouri Scholarship or a charity of choice in care of Knell Mortuary, 308 W. Chestnut Street, Carthage, MO 64836.
