Doris Evans

Mrs. Doris Jane Evans, 59, of Tiff City, Missouri, departed this life on Friday, January 20, 2017, in the comfort of her home after a courageous battle with cancer.

Doris entered this life on May 28, 1957, in Neosho, Missouri, one of six children born to the union of Marvin and Zelma (Goodnight) Barton. She was a lifelong resident of the Tiff City Community and a 1975 graduate of Grove High School. On February 16, 1991, she was united in marriage to Jerry Evans and together they have shared the last twenty-five years. Doris believed in hard work and being well organized. She was employed by Eagle Picher in Seneca, Missouri, for thirteen years before joining her husband in the operation of the Tiff Store in 1996. She and Jerry also farmed and ran a dairy. She loved her family and treasured each moment spent with them. Doris was a member of the Patterson Heights Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry Evans of the home; three children, Kane Wyatt and wife, Sasha, of Tahlequah, Oklahoma and Josie and Shane Evans both of Tiff City; two grandchildren, Laney and Abby Wyatt; her parents, Marvin and Zelma Barton of Tiff City; two brothers, John Barton and wife, Shelly, of Tiff City and Rick Barton and wife, Billie, of Bernice, Oklahoma; three sisters, Helen Humphrey and husband, Mo, of Tiff City, Shirley Lupton and husband, Max, of Grove, Oklahoma and Nancy Barton of Wyandotte, Oklahoma; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Doris are 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 24, 2017, in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with Pastors Fred Mills, Gary Fields and Jared Proctor officiating. Burial will follow in the New Bethel Cemetery in Anderson, Missouri. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Rex McCool, Jim Spicer, Randy Harris, Bob Grinnell, Spike Jones and Larry Abel. Ottie Luther, Jim Bradley, Richard Huston and George Lee Hays will be serving as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6-8:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Memorials are being directed to Patterson Heights Baptist Church and contributions may be left at the funeral home.
